Sweden have been very busy covering the big “scandal” in wrestling. In short, a Swedish wrestler was judge against on unfair grounds making him loose and out of the finals. Last minute he shows up for the bronze competition and wins. He gets the medal and then throws it on the floor and walks out. He looses the medal and is no longer allowed to wrestle for life.
We have finally moved on. And now as I type we are watching the highjump finals. In my opionon the only chance for gold. But competition is fierce.

if it any consolation….it was barely mentioned in America. I only ran across it by accident written up in the paper.
He is a bad sport and should be banned for life. Grow up.

but that is not really what Swedes think. Most Swedes think that what he did was good since the sport is corrupt. Sort of like the judges in figureskating. A few years back they didn´t give the Canadians the right points so the Russians won. But then they had to change it because everyone could see how the judges had favored the Russians and they gave gold to both countries.
That is sort of what happened here. He was planning on not wrestling anymore. Last big competition judges again disfavored him and had given him bad calls. He had given up but then decided to try again. And then it happened again.
I guess I wouldn´t throw the medal on the floor but I sure would complain about it!

Speaking of corrupt…what is with everyone breaking all of the old records? Shorter tracks? Slower clocks? More drugs? Or maybe it is all coincidence…

Sam, no corruption and no coincidence. Lab rat to lab rat, it´s all these chemicals they´ve been spraying us with.

Jo: be careful, with that question, soon Cargill will claim that high fructose corn syrup is doing it!
Mir: oh, I get it. Now I understand both sides(what it looked like happened and what really happened)

Sorry I’m not really following the olympics so I don’t have anything to add to the conversation. I’m just wondering if we could see one more picture of Mirjam before the big day arrives
Love,
Rachael
