I was walking by a state church a few weeks ago and noticed this on top of the steeple. A rooster? Not sure what the spiritual significance would be here… Any theories?
Hihi!
Lite svenska-service:
vaksamhet=vigilance
vindflöjel=weather vane
“HEHE! You haven’t seen those before? (vic is rubbing her hands together because it is really fun to be a little teacher)
The Church Rooster which has been in Sweden since the 1500’s adorns about 600 Swedish churches and symbolizes vigilence. Remember Peter heard the rooster crow? It reminded him of his failure. Maybe it should remind me of something too?
The rooster is also a weather vein.”
Vic posted a link at the bottom that talks about the winner of this years Church Rooster contest!?! Apparently Swedes vote every year and this years winner weighs 80KG!

Kyrktuppsfrämjandet utser, tillsammans med tidningen Land, årets kyrktupp. Årets kyrktupp är 80 kilo tung: http://www.norran.se/sektion_c.php?id=7216609&avdelning_1=102&avdelning_2=0
