One of the cool places we went to on our trip was Varberg´s fortress. It is cool and old with all of the great things a fortress should have. Like a moat, fake canons, herbal garden that the monks would care for and buildings inside the fortress where people would live during a siege.
It is bordering the sea and has been owned and captured by the danes, the swedes, the danes and the swedes. Sort of back and forth through out the centuries.
There are actually people living in these houses. There are som signs outside saying “private”. There is a youth hostel in the fortress too. It is usually windy up there but the view is really cool.

It is a little strange and awesome to think that when something is *old* in Sweden it is REALLY old. If something is *old* in America it is 150-200 years (kinda)old.

Yeah, that is really amazing to me too! I still can’t quite fathom that our town is from the 1200’s.

And when a building is 35 years ‘old’, they don’t smash it down to build a new one.
That is such a foreign (American) concept.
