Front page news - symptoms you can spot in the mirror
A lot of people spend a lot of time focusing on three things which are often tied together in some way; diets, appearance, and health.
Todays front page news in one of our Swedish papers stated that you can assess your health by looking closely at your face. It sort of peaked my intressed since I don´t like to go to the doctor´s office unless I think I am actually going to die.
I figured I could read the article online and then make my own medical diagnosis at home in my own bathroom. Of course the newpaper online would only allow you to read that article if you pay a membership fee. But they did write where the information came from.
Ha! A quick search online and I knew I would be able to make my own diagnosis. Sure enough the full story can be found in The Daily Mail. I was thrilled. Now I can figure out what is or could be wrong with me. The cure for most illnesses… balanced eating with enough but not overdosing on vitamins.

I once read that you could diagnose all kinds of illnesses in the iris of the eye. You know…..that colored part of the eye. It it is striped, or zig zag or this or that….then you have cancer of the liver or don’t breathe deeply enough. It was very interesting. BUT, I have never been able to find that information again. I am beginning to think I dreamt it.
So, did your article say anything about the iris? Tell me oh tell me great one, do I really need to choke down all those gigantic fish oil capsules?

Yes there is mentioning of the eye! I have a link to the article. It is all in English. Just click on the Daily Mail and it will take you there. Then you are well on your way to your own in-the-comfort-of-your-own-home-medical-diagnosis!

Very interesting info and self-diagnosing beats going to the doctor! These articles, though, are definitely not for the hypochondriac.

Did you know they can see your brain by looking into your eye? That is what the doctors use that bright light for…I saw it on Oprah.

HAHA. No, but I think it is possible to see someones brain by looking really close in the pupils with a bright light. Mir thinks I’m crazy.

I think she should look deeply into your eyes and see just where those ideas are coming from!

Sam? I didn´t know you had holes in your eyes. Next time I meet you I want to “look deeply” in them. I have seen (and touched)real brains and the eyenerves, but it would be the first time I stare into a living brain.

we just had another 20 min discussion about this over lunch today. I am still very very sceptical. I would like to know what part of the brain this so called doctor said he could see. And the follow-up question. Could you then see the brain through the ears too wouldn´t that be about the same thing?

The connections from the eyes to the brain are two rather big nerves. Nothing else. The only connection to the brain is via the tiny hole in wich the nerve goes. If it would be possible to stare in to the eye and look “beyond” it, you would only see the bone….eyebulb.

my point too! If anything it would be possible to see the bundle of nerves and even that I don´t think would be possible. I try to remember back when I had to disect a cow eye and I don´t think it was possible to see anything through that! But maybe the bundle of nerves??? And if this doctor means that that is part of the brain… then maybe?? There is something fishy about this doctor…

Attention - SAM: you are being steamrollered here. You need to dig up some proof - concrete, verifiable, printed and preferably from a reputed medical journal

Fascinating blog, Mir, and the comments are as well! I do think that the eye doctor CAN see part of the brain through the eye. I can’t wait to check out Iridology and The Daily Mail.
