Surely the picture is taken in the States! I have never seen anything even close to that wiry net in Sweden. Here we dig the cables down in the ground instead. I think it looks awful with all those cables hanging down over everyone’s head! It uglies down the scenery! I can understand that in such a huge country as the USA it would be very costly to change all the cable nets in the air to cable nets down in the ground, but I do hope that when new cables are to be put up that they have already started digging them down instead!
some towns are better… others are worse. I know someone in Sweden who loves these views actually appreaciate it and search for it in Sweden… because we do have them… just very rare!
Well I agree it looks bad but it all comes down to money. Underground cost about double. That pole on the left is for a large commercial load. Funny thing is we have often set poles and come back later and found phone wires, cable tv, lights etc. have been added without a word to us. Still it looks awful doesn’t it?

Wasn’t it Glen Campbell who sang, “I am a lineman for the county”….(add your own music here)…and I drive the main roads.
Heck, to him it is job security and a beautiful thing to see
