Where did they go?Remeber the ice cream sandwiches we bought a few days ago. The ones with gingersnap flavor instead of chocolate. I remember the shock of tasting spices instead of chocolate. Remember the picture of Sam taking a bite…

So, I felt like having ice cream yesterday. When we bought the ice cream we got a box of 6 so I thought we would have at least 4 left… right!? To my surprise we had NONE! No ice cream left!

Someone ate the 4 that remained…. I wonder who….

I really like my job and the people I work with. I purposfully don´t write about it on the blog but I will make an exception. It has been such great few months. Planning for new treatment services, interviewing to fill positions and equipping new facilities.

It has been important to me to make things beautiful and to create a welcoming atmosphere. After my aweful experience in the US at “the company of doom” I wanted to prioritize ergonomics! The chair is specially approved by hospitalstaff ergonomic professionals! My back still hurts at times from my former job (it´s been over a year now). I don´t want anyone to ever have to experience that again!

Our office is in a regular apartment building in the center of downtown. We work with people that have substance and dependency issues. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Agression Replacement Therapy, Relapse Prevention, and Motivational Interviewing are the main methods that we use. One of my coworkers is educated to also give tactile massage. It is really interesting and varying work!

Today me and my coworkers visited another treatment facility in town - RIA. We both work with substance abuse and some dual diagnosis. They took us all over town to see their different branches and even to the little cute town of Gränna where we of course had fika at a café.

We had such a sunny, warm, yet brisk day. The view above is from one of the shelters that RIA has. Spring is really here and I can´t wait to show all of you the white flowers that are coming soon!

Ever since we moved to Sweden we have been eating candy daily. I am not exagerating here! We have a huge candy store a block away and it is open late. Every day Sam refills it too. I get frustrated because I happen to love Swedish candy and can´t stay away. So we eat and eat.

Last weekend we went to my brother´s family. As a tradition you never come empty handed. So… we bought about 4 pounds of candy!!!! Yup! You read it right almost 4 pounds of candy for about 15 dollars.

Here is the bowl that is constantly fille with candy in our house. Mmmm it is so good!

…Ice-cream sandwiches! I grabbed the box from the freezer and headed to the checkout counter. Our pace picked up a step or two as we walked home in anticipation. We plugged a movie into the DVD player and ripped open the box.

What the heck?!! Who eats gingerbread flavored ice cream sandwiches? Seriously.

This past week flew by so fast! I was reflecting over this fact with one of my friends. It seems the weeks go by faster and faster. She told me it is a sign of getting old(er). However I told her that I remember being in 3rd or 4th grade and talking with my bestfriend about the strange pheomena…

Why is it that days can go so slow yet the week pass by so fast?

I have had a stressful week at work and was very tired on Friday evening. I was super hungry when I got home and after walking around our downtown area we finally decided to go to Åtta Glas - a restaurant we like. The food was very very good! We saw some of our friends there too and decided to have a fika at their house on Saturday afternoon… more about that later!

8 glas

All of these pictures are taken with Sam´s cameraphone. So this morning we started out sleeping in. It was needed! After some coffee and a game of Farkle we headed out. I was so excited to find these great flowers outside our house - krokus!

Krokus Krokus

We walked a few blocks to the town market. It is always going on Saturday even in the winter. It was a great day to be at the market. I can feel that spring is coming but the wind is still sort of cold. Here were some ladies trying on hats and I checked out the flowers!

Sales at the market

That is our church in the background. It has a café and it is very busy on Saturdays.

TULIPS

After walking around at the market and trying to find a geo cache it was definelty time for a fika! We spent some time at the warm café just talking and relaxing.

Clara´s café After shopping some more down town we got picked up by our friends. We bought some more… fika of course.

First we found some weird clothes at H&M! What do you think. Something to wear?

Shorts? Nice jump suit

We headed out to our friend´s new bought house to check it out. It was nice to see where they are going to live and all the things they are planning to change and renovate. They have a big job in front of them but they are looking forward to having their first house.

At our friends dining room...

Thanks for joining us this Saturday… we had a good time!

It all started when J and Shie snuck over to Sweden to surprise us for Christmas. They brought along a dice game called Farkel. It is really easy to get the hang of, but very addicting. It followed us everywhere we went on our last trip to the USA…

Since my family loves to play games, we played lots of it! It kind of replaced poker as our preferred game at 2:00 AM. If you have no idea what I am talking about here are the rules.

OK…now that everyone knows the rules. Here are a few “optional rules” that I found.

More point values:

  • Four of a kind- 1000 pts
  • Five of a kind- 2000 pts
  • Six of a kind- 3000pts (I actually did this once!)

“Running” With Prior Points: A player may choose to roll the remaining dice from the previous player’s scoring turn (i.e. only if they didn’t farkel) rather than roll all six dice to “run” with that player’s score on that turn. For example, if the previous player scored 1000 points on four dice and had two remaining dice, the next player may roll those two remaining dice and add 1000 to any points they roll. In this way a bold player may score off of a timid player’s lack of bravery.

OK! So good luck! By the way…what is the highest point value you have rolled in one turn?

I can´t believe it is already a month ago since we were in the US! A whole month since spending that wonderful day with my former co-worker. It started with her picking me up. We drove over to the Café Amore - the last place we saw each other before I so abruptly left the country.

Some random person took this picture and it didn´t turn out that well….

mir & maxima

But the memories are great! Hey… look it is one of my 1,97 dollar shirts from Old Navy!

After spending hours just catching up and talking we went over to one of my favorite places… Panera Bread. We lucked out since we got free cookies!

Frontega Chicken & French onion soup

We went to pick up Sam at the Mall of America where we got some more coffee at Caribou. I introduced the chocolate covered Graham crackers to my friend. Mmmm! The day ended so wonderfully at their house and we spend most evening cooking on the Raclette table grill. Mmmmm…. all those sauces and different kinds of meat!

Fooooood

Thank you for a wonderful day that I LOVE to think back to and remember!

I think March is the first month of Spring! I don´t care if it is the snowiest month of the year or is it is still cold and stuff. I think that all the seasons of the year are divided up into three months each. That would make March the first month of Spring!

It is Spring!!!

Other than that, I have been very busy with work and really tired at night. I still feel that sickness bug I caught in the US. No fever but just really tired. That is why I haven´t blogged much lately!
