My Faith in Humanity is Restored!
So, we crawled back to our place in Jönköping after running around the USA for 3 weeks. It was late, we were tired and jet-lagged. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my bike was gone! SOMEONE STOLE MY BIKE! Now, I heard this kind of thing happens in Sweden. I heard that it is the #1 crime in this country. But I was pretty upset going to bed that night.
The next day, I was walking to the library and noticed my beloved bike parked by the entrace where I had left it 3 weeks ago! No one had touched it! It sat there the whole time, unlocked and exposed!

Do you really want to say “humanity,” Sam? It might be a bigger let down. Wouldn’t it better to say - My faith in certain people who might be bike thieves around Jonkoping has been restored!!!
Just kidding, I think it is a really cool story. I am just unusually pessimistic this morning!

I can be a little overdramatic sometimes…

Did you check the mileage?

HA! Nope. I am still a little suspicous though…maybe someone stole it, then I took it back while they were checking out a book at the library. I wonder what kind of book a bike thief would read…

Incredible! Can’t help but to wonder if it’d been there still if you would have locked it. Perhaps the bike thieves that passed on your bike, passed on it because they thought it had already been stolen considering it wasn’t locked! I’m glad you got it back! But don’t let leaving it unlocked become a habit…

Good point! I usually am pretty good about locking it up…but I think I was stressed out those few days before leaving…

If you aren’t rocking studded tires on that bike, I can see why it wasn’t stolen.

Studded tires eh? That’s not a bad idea. It can get a little hairy in the snow sometimes. Thanks for the tip!

I might be considered a bit mean but maybe… nobody WANTS that old brown-colored bike!!!!?? Who would steal a bike from 1970?

IT’S A CLASSIC! WHO WOULDN’T WANT IT?

It sounds like you want it stolen. What was it that induced you to “leave” the bike at the library, and then “forget” to lock said bike, and then travel hundreds of miles out of the country for 3 weeks!
Hmmm, what is really going on, Sam? I could call my goons and arrange for it to be “stolen!”
P.S. This post has triggered the the most interesting conversation. Thanks for posting it. Now if you want to make it all stop - post something else
. A shirtless plunge into the lake will take our minds off the bike!
