Today was the darkest day in Sweden. Starting tomorrow the days will get longer. The sun will be up more. It is really needed. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE is tired. Sure it is a lot with Christmas prep, shopping, work, schoolwork and all that but people get really tired from the dark days.

Jönköping
08:48am Sun up
3:19pm Sun down
Stockholm
08:44am Sun up
2:49pm Sun down
In Kiruna in north of Sweden they don´t even write a note about sun up and down since it never comes up. The sun won´t come up there until 2nd of January. And then… it is only up for half an hour before it sets again.
Anyway… it is starting to turn now! The sun will be with us more! I look forward to the energy boost.

Do they push the ‘natural light’ lamps like they do here in Minnesota to offset the lack of daylight?
There was just a news report about SAD again yesterday.

Nope they don´t. There are actually a lot of studies and reports out in Sweden that those lamps don´t work…. I haven´t read them but they talk about it at work? It strange cause I remember standing talking with Amy at metro when someone turned their lamp on at the desk. I could FEEL it from the back. I felt the lamp switch on though I couldn´t see it!?!

That person is a good friend and she does find the lamp helpful. I recall Dr. S thinking they were helpful for SAD.
6 hours of daylight isn’t much. Not surprised that everyone is tired! Life must really be difficult in Kiruna!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!
