It is sort of funny how everyone liked to comment on the last blog entry. I have been thinking a lot about why that became such a hot topic. Sam is wondering too why we got such a response on such a dumb entry. I have my theories…. I am sure you have yours!

By the way… how many blogs do you check and read every week. I check about 4 of them two that I am responsible for myself.

It has once again been brought to my attention how weird these two months really are. I often make the mistake of mixing these two up. Why? Well, September should be the 7th month of the year. Why is it called September when it’s the 9th month? I thought sept meant 7. Am I wrong here?

So if I mix these two up now you know. Anyone else out there making the same mistake?

We traveled to the southernmost point of Sweden this summer, but dont let the “south” fool you! It is actually further north than Cold Bay Alaska!

We sat next to the sea, squinted our eyes, and tried to see Germany as we sampled the smoked fish….

Centralskolan 1-3 Grade

On our vacation in July we spent a couple of days wandering around my home town. This is the town I was born in and grew up in. I lived there for 15 years. Some might say the first 15 years of our lives are the most important. Well, I still feel like it is my home town. Above is a picture of the school I went to. The three windows to the right and first floor was my classroom between 1-3 grade. I had the best teacher! Ingrid Personne. Just below in the basemate was woodshop classes.

The other building 4-6 grade There is a second building that is part of the Central School in Trelleborg. The top classroom to the left was mine and below was the music classroom. When Sam and I were there I took a picture through the glass doors. I ran up those stairs so many times for so many years.

My brother Jonas classroom was just to the right on the first floor and the teachers lounge was also on the first floor to the right, the door that is open.

To the left across from the teachers lounge was the tiny library. And the door straight across was the door to get in and out of the building that only teachers were allowed to use for some strange reason.

Behind the red brick building is a parking lot. During school hours no cars are allowed so it doubles as a soccer field. Just outside is the towns community park. That is where I spend most of my time during recess.

While Sam and I were there a little girl was dancing for her parents on the stage. The church choir spent many hours on that stage singing and I am sure dad preached a couple of times there too.

Today started really well. I got an email from maxima asking me a few questions that got me thinking about her and our memories together. It really got me in a funky mood, realizing how much I miss her.

We made this great tray with great cheeses and a variety of crackers, grapes and red peppers. It was really nice and very yummy. I think I had too much cheese! The rest of the evening we spent baking, cooking, and doing dishes. We baked a bunch of rolls that we are bringing with us on our vacation trip next week. Yes, we are all going to a town by the sea where we rented a cabin.

Well my brother got us into this weird game. License plates on cars all have three letters and then three numbers. The game is to find all the numbers in the right order. After a few months we finally saw 001. The funny thing is… when you finally find 001 you see it several times but 002 is nowhere to be found.

My brother has played that game for 2 years and as far as I know he is still trying to find 041.

This morning I read about Renata Chlumska in the paper. She is a Swede trying to go all around the US on her bicycle. Behind her bike she is pulling her kayaak.

She started in Seattle and went down the coast to Texas over to Florida up the coast through NY. Last we know she passed through North Dakota and should probably be somewhere close to Malta MT…

During our vacation we also had some time visiting the second… or is it the third largest city in Sweden. It is on the west coast of Sweden. The people from Gothenburg say it is the front side of Sweden while the Stockholmers on the east coast calls it the back side.

Time with great friends

Either way, I love Gothenburg. We had a great time in this town by the sea. The day was sunny like most days this summer in Sweden. Best of all! We got to spend some time with one of my best friends Anna and her boyfriend. They took us on a tour of all the best sites for tourists. Great guides.

We started the tour with some great Swedish strawberries that we bought at the open air market and ate them in the park.

Our friends have such rich lives. With that I mean they have experienced a lot and traveled the world. They have great stories to tell. I think our personal favorite was Björns experience at a massage place in Thailand. And no, it has nothing to do with women!

http://studioscreenings.com/galleries/Dear-Frankie/Dear_Frankie_001.jpgWe just finished watching this charming movie.

It is about nine yearold Frankie and his mother Lizzie. Lizzie has been telling Frankie that his dad is traveling across the world on a ship. Frankie has been writing his dad sending the letters to a P.O Box where his mother picks them up and writes him back pretending to be the dad. It all becomes a bit complicated when the ship the father is supposed to be on docks in their city. Lizzie will have to make a choice - tell the truth or “rent” a dad.

The movie won awards in Cannes, Toronto International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, and Tribeca Film Festival. Great camera angles, nice music, down to earth script and acting.

Read more about this movie on Miramaxs homepage.
