Geocaching in January

We went out geocaching today. All three of our caches were virtual. Check out these pics of an old watertower that we found. This was in a nice area only a few miles from our home. We drive by it all the time but never noticed this tower before. We about killed ourselves walking up the icy steps! I really liked the statues (reminds us of Lord of the Rings). It would be a little creepy at night though.

Frustrated
No showings this week at all. It’s getting rather frustrating. We just want to move on with our lives and it all seems to be on hold. I know… everything happens for a reason. We are to finish something here before we are allowed to move on. I know… the right people have to come through. But I’m still frustrated.
I went to some community bulletin boards today and put up a sign with pictures of our condo. Maybe if more people see it. Well, it has to happen sooner or later. I also listed it on Craig’s list today.
We just need to keep encouraged. I suppose in a few years these months will not seem this long at all.
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is also known as Rich Site Summary. It sort of gives you a running update in summary form what is happening on the websites that you regulary visit. Most often people use RSS for news websites and blogs but it can also be used for other websites.
RSS uses XML code and constantly scans the webpages you are interested in and broadcasts the changes on sites to its prescribers. The information broadcasted to you is usually the headline and possibly a summary of the article or the lead-in to the story. To my knowledge RSS can be fed to your computer, PDA, or cell phone.
The process is sort of like a newletter but it is instantaneous. You don’t have to wait for the summary to come to you and it won’t be blocked by a spam filter. RSS is convenient because you get a minute-to-minute update on the news you are interested in.
In order to get an RSS feed you need an aggregator (feed reader). There are several aggregators for free that you can down load online. I still need to do some research in order to figure out what aggregator is the best for us.
If you have any information about this, please leave a comment and let us know!

Just another evening
The room is filling with the aroma of steak, baked potatoes, and asparagus. The techno music from Swedish webradio is coming through our little computer’s speakers. We have to hurry and eat as we are heading out to church tonight.
Still no word on the condo. We haven’t had any showings this week. It all goes up and down. Last week we had so many showings. No offers yet so we are just waiting and praying.
I’ve been spending some time this week helping out at ICCM. They need a lot of help and it’s great to actually have the time to do it.
Got to go and check on the steaks, don’t want them to burn…

January 9
I spent 3 hours doing computer application testing today. I guess I am planning to do some part-time temp work until the condo sells. I actually did some research on the Tfal grill or “Racelette” as it’s called. They do sell them in the US and in Denmark. I still haven’t located any in Sweden but I’m sure if Denmark has it…
I’m going to have some vanilla and carmel flavored Senseo with some newly baked Ciabatta bread and half a chocolate babka from Breadsmith. I just might pop in an episode or two of Smallville.

Dinner with our friends!
Sam and I had such a great time last night

with our great friends Eileen and Klaas. We were cooking chicken, steak, burgers, veggies, eggs, and so much more. It was so great to catch up with them.
Sam made a new friend with Mona. She is a pitbull that loves to clean people’s ears… I’m not too sure if Sam enjoyed it too much. Judge for yourself by the picture.
I know what I want for Christmas… my birthday…. or tomorrow just because. The T-Fal cooker table grill we used to cook all the wonderful food. It’s great as you sit at the table, talk, pass cheese, and have fun while you are cooking exactly what you want, how you want, when you want. I think they had to special order it from France. I hope we have them in Sweden!

Our first Picture of the Month.
This is Jim Fauth smelling the Brussel Sprout flavored Jones Soda. Just imagine what it tasted like! Other flavors we tried during our Christmas trip to Montana: Turkey & Gravy, Herb Stuffing, Pumpkin Pie, and Cranberries. Turkey & Gravy had 350mg of sodium in it.

Changing the way we do things on the blog
So we have been informed by our administrator how blogging really should be done. We are going to try to change it a bit. Our journal entries will now be on this page and we will mix Sam’s and Mirjam’s entries on this same page. It will all make sense.
We are really just learning how all this works and we are thankful Klaas is there to guide us through our ignorance.
